Mourinho faces 6-year prison sentence




An investigation carried out by The Sunday Times has looked into a company from the Virgin Islands with which, according to reports, Mourinho diverted funds relating to his image rights.
Investigations and rumours of tax fraud continue to surround the top names in the world of football. The Sunday Times investigated Jose Mourinho and revealed that the Portuguese manager could have used a company based in the Virgin Islands to cover income pertaining to his image rights.
The company was allegedly used to evade taxes in Jose's first spell at Chelsea (2004-2007) and his time at Real Madrid (2010-2013). The manager's advisors have assured that all his taxes are up to date, but if not, we could be talking of a 6-year prison sentence as well as a fine of £17.4 million for tax fraud.
The Sunday Times pointed out the possibility of Mourinho deceiving both the Spanish authorities as well as those of Great Britain, through a complicated ring of companies with the sole objective of avoiding payment of his taxes for image rights.
